Join the Glacier Peak Band

The Glacier Peak High School marching and pep Grizzly Band is the band the public thinks of as our high school band. It supports the teams at all home football games, selected basketball games, and our two local parades. A week-long band camp in August prepares the band for the season; any GPHS student can join, whether or not they are enrolled in a band class. Need-based scholarships may be available.

Concert Band is open to all wind instrumentalists and focuses on developing each student's technical proficiency through engaging concert band literature. The group performs publicly throughout the year and participates in the district band festival. Freshman members also take part in the Marching/Pep Band during football season.

Symphonic Band focuses on performing quality literature from the band repertoire. Enrollment is by audition and limited to ensure proper ensemble balance. The group develops each musician's technique and expression and performs locally as well as at regional festivals and competitions.

Wind Ensemble is a performance-oriented course for advanced wind players. Enrollment is by audition and limited to ensure proper ensemble balance. The group performs within the community and at festivals and competitions throughout the Northwest.

All percussionists should enroll in the Percussion Ensemble, which develops technical and interpretive skill across the full range of concert percussion instruments. The ensemble performs on its own and supports the concert ensembles and the Marching/Pep Band. Freshman members also participate in the Marching/Pep Band during football season.

The Jazz Bands (Jazz I and Jazz II) are zero-hour classes exploring many styles of big band music and developing students' improvisational skills. Jazz I is the top performing ensemble and is audition-only. Both groups perform in the community and at festivals and competitions throughout the Northwest.
